1950: 18′ at 1′, with an umbrage of 53′ (for Swanton).
1997: 14m tall x190 @ 0m-0.6m diameter – The Sussex Tree Book (Owen Johnson).
June 1999 – Tim Hills: 20′ 4″ (620cm) at the ground, 21′ 2″ (645cm) at 3′ and 23′ 0” (701cm) at 5′ (excluding the small branch that rises from close to the ground).
September 2012 – Peter Norton: Hollow with no internal growth. Foliage looked in good condition and crown a fine shape. Measured at 1′ to avoid the bulbous base recorded a girth of 20′ 5” (622cm).
