Notes:As well as the copse yews, a little further along the road on the right hand side heading south is a large girthed yew, sandwiched between road and field. The tall male tree is twin trunked from the height of about 5′. Most distinctive are the low branches growing from one side of the tree at right angles and interfering with the perpendicular growth from the other. The tree’s dipping branches reach the ground about 10m from the trunk and from this branch layering have produced new trees.
2026 Peter Norton: Much overgrown foliage along the roadside means you have to approach the tree from the fence line. Many-layering branches proving difficult to capture on photo.
