Tree ID: 280
Yews recorded: Ancient 7m+
Tree girth: 701cm
Girth height: at the ground
Tree sex: female
Date of visit: 10-Jun-99
Source of earliest mention: 1946: The Churchyard Yew and Immortality - Cornish
Notes:1999 – Tim Hills: Two parallel trunks grow from a short bole. Fluting on one of these is particularly twisted.
In 1983 Reg Wheeler recorded a girth of 690cm (22′ 8”) at the ground.
2016 Paul Wood: I recorded a girth of 23′ 0” (701cm) at the ground. Much twiggy growth covers the east side of the tree. The north side of the yew was heavy with growth while the rest of the canopy had much open space, perhaps caused by adverse weather, since none of the exposed broken limbs had been sawn off. The tree appears to be thriving. Grave stones still lean against the tree.
