1961 – Alan Mitchell: Girth of 29′ 6” (899cm) at 5′ recorded.
The postcard shows that the tree has been protected by railings for a long time. There appeared to have been fire or smoke damage in the past and wire netting now blocks some of the holes. At least 8 substantial branches lean outwards around the tree.
