Edwin Lees (1882) recorded ‘a massive yew’ with ‘internal roots and the size of the tree suggest it was at least seven centuries old’ (The Ancient Yew -Robert Bevan-Jones ). J.Pritchard, a local historian, in personal correspondence with Robert reported it ‘cut down and burnt’ in 1971.
