In his 1858 Notices of the Churches in Warwickshire, Matthew Bloxham noted the following: ‘Southward of the tower in the churchyard is a very large yew tree. This is the sole survivor of four trees of equal size which were formerly standing in this churchyard; one of them was wantonly destroyed by fire’.
