Notes:

This multi-stemmed yew of no great stature is probably early Victorian. Walter Scott described the Hawes Inn in his novel Antiquary, and Robert Louis Stevenson wrote part of Kidnapped there. The tree would have been in existence when Stevenson stayed there.
