Notes:

The photo is all we have of this once exceptional female yew, with a total canopy circumference of 96 yards! This includes the natural layering of its branches which have then been clipped to form a hedge. Since only 3 other examples of this are known in the British Isles – at Shugborough, Beaumanor Hall and Armathwaite Hall, a rare piece of botanical history has been destroyed.
