Hergest Ridge - nr Gladestry

Tree ID: 3596

Yews recorded: V - con

Tree girth: 207cm

Girth height: at 140cm

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 13-Dec-10

Source of earliest mention: 2010: Ancient Tree Hunt

Notes:

December 2010 – Lewis Goldwater: A hollowing yew with dead wood on the ground and indications that the tree has been larger girthed in the past.
2015 – Paul Wood: This location is generally regarded as the end of Hergest Ridge, and is accessible to the public. Hergest Ridge however officially ends about half a mile to the east at the ruined Jamaica House. It would be correct to say that these yews are part of Yew Tree Bank, for which we have an entry: Gladestry – Yew Tree Bank.
With a girth of under 4m the tree has previously been classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it is now classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
