Hope Bagot Lane

Tree 2 on the plan is situated at SO5869174171, high on the north side of Hope Bagot Lane, 3m to 4m up on the bank of the sunken road. The yew, in very good condition, was difficult to climb to. By clearing some undergrowth it was possible to measure it at the ground level of the higher ground at the back of tree. A measurement of 16′ 4” (4.97m) was obtained. The tree has a main bole and a large branch leaning about 45 degrees to the east, where a hole in the surrounding trees lets the light through. The lower part of the tree also had signs of being managed, probably to keep the branches away from stock.
