Tree ID: 4899
Yews recorded: Notable
Tree girth: 281cm
Girth height: at 150cm
Tree sex: unspecified
Date of visit: 8-Apr-02
Source of earliest mention: 2002: Tim Hills
Notes:Close to the old yew is this younger specimen, so covered in ivy that no information could be gathered in 2002.
In 2016 the ivy has gone and Mark Turner’s photograph shows that a substantial elder has taken root in its hollow and now grows out of the yew at a height of about 2.5m, with its roots visible and growing down through the centre of the tree. It will be interesting to see what happens to this over the coming years. The tree is numbered 152686 by the Ancient Tree Hunt, with a girth of 281cm at 150cm in 2016.
With a girth of under 4m the tree is presently classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it will in the future be classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
