Hurst

Tree ID: 2797

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 396cm

Girth height: at 30cm

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 5-May-11

Source of earliest mention: Lin Carter

Notes:

May 2011 – Tim Hills: The yew grows only a few metres from the church porch on the south side. Its elongated bole gives it an appearance of being larger girthed than it is. One major branch has been allowed to grow at right angles and stretches almost to the road. Here it reaches the soil and will eventually become embedded, giving more support to this limb. A sawn off branch seen in photos 4 and 5 shows how it originally developed from two adjacent branches. Girth 13′ exactly at 1′.
October 2013 – Peter Norton: One large female yew grows south of the porch and leans away from the church. Girth was 13′ 0” (396cm) at 1′ and 13′ 1” (399cm) at 3′.
