The tree is as seen in the photographs. According to the Christchurch Park Management Plan p.45 ‘archaeological evidence has shown that the Yew tree in the south end of the park is the oldest at around six hundred years’. It is not clear how this conclusion was reached, since its present girth suggests that it is younger.
