Notes:

The yew was first noted in 1997. Many years later it was threatened with felling, but John Wheatley, who lives locally and has a great interest in the environment, successfully campaigned for saving it. In 2016 it was noted that one of its limbs had snapped off after a spell of ferocious gales. Cherry Marsh’s photo from 2021 shows that in spite of the loss of part of the tree, it continues to flourish.
With a girth of under 4m the tree has previously been classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it is now classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
