Knockholt

Tree ID: 547

Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m

Tree girth: 523cm

Girth height: at root crown

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 31-Jul-99

Source of earliest mention: 1936: The King's England - Arthur Mee

Notes:

July 1999 – Tim Hills: A fluted bole with low bristly growth and hollows filled with concrete. Girth of 17′ 1” (521cm) at 1′. October 2013 – Peter Norton: A male tree with a straight fluted bole, having been cleared of the lower spray seen in the 1999 photo. It seems possible that it was once much hollowed and the space filled with concrete. New wood has now started to flow over the visible infill. A girth of 17′ 2” (523cm) at the root crown was recorded. This would be a similar height to the measurement taken in 1999.
