Notes:Caumont noted a yew with a circumference of 2m in 1867. If this was correctly recorded the yew today has grown very rapidly, for it now measures 5.42m at 1m. This was obtained after clearing a way through some of the ivy on the trunk, which has only been removed from one side. It appeared that ivy has rooted inside the tree, making it more difficult to manage. While the yew appears likely to be hollow, a gap on one side did not reach a hollow space. Between 2.5m and 4m is an outpouring of lateral branches as well as a very thick and tall central stem.
