Notes:

Described in 1923 with a girth of 14ft at 2ft from the ground.
In 1988 the tree was recorded by the local cub pack for the Conservation Foundation’s Country Living yew tree campaign. A letter to David Bellamy reported a girth of 17′ at 3′ and 17½’ at 4′. The nature of the trunk suggests that these can only be approximate. A certificate stating an estimated age of 700 years was sent to the church.
In 2009 Owen Johnson described a ‘rather sprouty bole’ and a girth of 15′ 5” ((470cm) at 4′. Ancient Tree Hunt number 35448.
