Llanbedr (Paincastle)

Tree ID: 24

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 384cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 20-Aug-99

Source of earliest mention: 1995: Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust

Notes:

August 1999 – Tim Hills: WSW of the church. An elongated fragment of what was once a larger girthed tree. Girth of 11′ 11” (363cm) at the ground recorded.
2015 – Paul Wood: The male tree grows 60 metres WSW of the church. At ground level we recorded 12′ 7” (384cm). The tree looked in good health, though was much covered in lichen. Its bole was hard to reach. It was my impression that the tree has been larger in the past.
