Llanfair Clydogau

Notes from Arthur O.Chater: The tree has the greatest girth of any single, intact trunk of yew in the county.
In May 1978 girth was estimated at perhaps 24ft (730cm) at 5ft (impossible to penetrate the side twigs) and the tree described as very oblong in section.
In December 1980 it was carefully measured as 693cm (22ft 9ins) at the base and in 2004 was 714cm (23ft 5ins) at the base and 774cm (25ft 5ins) at 1.5m up where it is branched into two.
1999 – Tim Hills: The tree was inaccessible, but in 2005 I was able to record a girth at the base of about 24′ through much twiggy growth.
