Llangar - nr Corwen

The female yew, shown here, is hollow with internal growth. It branches dip to the ground creating an enclosed space.
In April 1984 Reg Wheeler recorded a girth of 417cm (13′ 8”) at 45cm, above the sawn branch end that can be seen in the photo.
The nearby male has had all lower branches systematically removed and consequently has a very knobbly trunk. In 1984 Reg Wheeler recorded a girth of 320cm (10′ 6”) at the ground.
In 2014 I noted a girth of about 11′.
