Llangattock Lingoed

Tree ID: 133

Yews recorded: V - con

Tree girth: 394cm

Girth height: at base of tree

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 21-Feb-00

Source of earliest mention: 1987: Churchyard yews of Gwent - J.Daryll Evans

Notes:

2012 Tim Hills: A hollow yew on a mound SE of the church. In 2002 it was impossible to approach the tree through elder and brambles and its canopy was filled with ivy. Since then the churchyard has been cleared and in January 2012 the tree could be recorded. A second yew of similar girth is seen in the final photograph. This is west of the church and now in the garden of what was once the rectory.
With a girth of under 4m the tree has previously been classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it is now classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
