Tree ID: 134

Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 488cm

Girth height: at 30cm

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 4-Jul-99

Source of earliest mention: 1988: Churchyard yews of Gwent - J.Daryll Evans

Notes:

A short bole from which three branches once grew. One is now a stump.
In 1999 the living branches dipped to the ground, creating a darkened space among the tombstones. Ivy also grew high into the branches. By 2012 the churchyard has been transformed and this yew now flourishes.
Girth of 16′ 8” (508cm) at 1′ in 1999 was only 16′ 0” (488cm) at the same height in 2012. This is probably due to the loss of dead material at the base of the tree.
