Notes:

1994: In Chetan and Brueton’s The Sacred Yew, a girth of 34’+ is given in Meredith’s Gazetteer.
April 1998 – Tim Hills: The tree consists of several fragments around a large space that was once filled with an oil tank. When the tree’s significance was realised and publicised the tank was removed. The tidying up process was perhaps over-zealous and important pieces of old trunk were also removed.
2005 – Owen Johnson: Four separate hollow fragments spread widely from base; the south fragment rests on the ground, somewhat inflating the measurable girth. Huge wide luxuriant crown.
