Tree girth: No data

Girth height: not measured

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 21-Sep-13

Notes:

2013: It appeared that some of the yews surrounding the south side of the ruins could be 16′ in girth and multi-stemmed at the base. However Reg Wheeler’s notes from 1984 have no yew over 4m in girth.
In 2008 Tim Hills described an additional yew growing in an adjacent garden (also visible from the road) and wondered whether this might be the tree described 160 years ago. The ‘venerable yew’ continues to prove elusive.
In 2003 Pat Denne recorded 4 yews at this site with diameters of 131cm, 129cm, 117cm and 93cm.
