Tree ID: 157
Yews recorded: Ancient 5m-7m
Tree girth: 560cm
Girth height: at 100cm
Tree sex: male
Date of visit: 26-Sep-99
Source of earliest mention: 1986: Churchyard yews of Gwent - J.Daryll Evans
Notes:November 1986 – J.Daryll Evans: In the Churchyard Yews of Gwent he recorded a yew with a girth of 560cm (18′ 5”) at 1m.
September 1999 – Tim Hills: The yew grows on a mound overlooking a garden. It has many central branches with newer growth around its edges. Ivy covered everything and there was a large amount of adventitious growth. Measurement was difficult, at its base it was about 16′.
October 2021 – Tim Hills: Twiggy growth and a vast patch of brambles made the tree inaccessible. There are many new stems plastered to the outside of the tree and I was able to find a hollow branch in the centre. Many branches overhang a new building development in the grounds of the Old Rectory.
