Llanveynoe - Olchon Valley

Yew A on the plan, shown here, grows about 100m NW of the church in a large curving hedge boundary and on the side of the narrow lane. Many attempts have been made to contain it, with most older branches removed and the lower limbs regularly removed for access in the lane and to protect the stock in the adjacent field. Twiggy growth covered a major part of the bole but in the field it was fenced off making it easier to see some details of the tree’s appearance. A number of what looked like internal stems were visible, now on the outside of the tree, suggesting that this has been larger girthed than the present estimated 13′. What is left of this tree was growing well in spite of such regular attention.
