Source of earliest mention: 1988: Churchyard yews of Gwent - J.Daryll Evans

Notes:

In his 1988 Churchyard Yews of Gwent, Evans recorded a girth of 392cm (12′ 10”) at 1m.
In 2021 the yew was unapproachable from the church side, half hidden behind elder and bramble, but also by a collapsed branch, still well connected to the tree, which has embedded itself into the ground in several places. It is possible that in years to come new trees will develop from this close to the parent tree. Girth was recorded at a height of 15”, where a nail was embedded, and 9′ 11” (302cm) was recorded. The tree swells considerably outwards to 11′ 10” (361cm) at 3′ – over some ivy – and 14′ 2” (432cm) at 4′.
