Tree ID: 786

Yews recorded: Ancient 7m+

Tree girth: 861cm

Girth height: at 30cm

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 7-Oct-99

Source of earliest mention: 1780: Gazetteer in The Sacred Yew

Notes:

1998 – Tim Hills: A yew of large girth supports three main areas of growth. It seemed out of place in a small garden. Girth of 28′ 3” (861cm) at 1′ was recorded just above spreading roots.
2020 – Peter Norton: Measuring at the root crown with some minor undulation girths of 28′ 0” (853cm) and 28′ 1” (856cm) were recorded. I counted four main areas of growth with further sub divisions above the break of crown. The area beneath the tree had been cleared of all vegetation about 12 months earlier by the estate and at the same time some branch growth was reduced. The crown growth looked lush and healthy.
