Many yews grow here in what are described as ‘wonderful ancient yew walks’ and ‘the yew walk trees are exceptional, of remarkable form and girth’. They are thought to date from about 1660.
In 1897 two yews were measured by W.Dixon with girths of 11′ and 10′ 7” at the ground. They were described as ‘part of a row of 14 trees’.
Between 2000-2005 Aubrey Fennell recorded many yews here up to a girth of 4.65m (15′ 3”) at 1m.
