Nailsea - Holy Trinity

Tree ID: 1404

Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 414cm

Girth height: at 60cm

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 17-Nov-02

Source of earliest mention: 1916: West Country Churches - W.J. Robinson

Notes:

November 2002 – Tim Hills: Though of small girth an elongated bole makes it appear larger. It consists of two separated fragments around a large section of the original trunk which has been cut off at about 10′.
2015: The original trunk is an almost complete dead sapwood shell. Inside it is very loose crumbly wood and cubical rot. This will be interesting to see in 150 years. Measured at 2′ (though hard to keep it exactly at this height as the bole is twisted) was 13′ 7” (414cm), an increase of 5” since 2002.
