Owen Johnson, who measured the yew in 2005, considers the tree to be ‘perhaps contemporaneous with the one growing in nearby Upton Castle’. Girth in 2005 of 526cm (17′ 3”) at 45cm increased to 563cm (18′ 5½”) at 45cm in 2025. Some discoloured leaves noted on the north side in 2025.
