Notes:

Chip Wilson – Estimated height of the tree is 12 metres. The circumference of trunk at 0.5 metres height intervals is:-0.0m-4.4m; 0.5m-4.4m; 1.0m-4.7m; 1.5m-5.0m; 2.0m-5.2m. At this point its starts to branch out.
July 1st 2012 – Peter Norton: Google Maps 50.817209,-1.54036. The large female tree has a break of crown at about 10′ from which one main leader and five branches emerge. It is hollow with two large basal cavities and a further two smaller ones caused by branch loss. One large internal root measuring 2′ in girth plus 2 minor roots of which one has been cut through, possibly when the largest basal cavity was ‘dressed’. A large fruiting body Laetiporus Sulphureus was also evident on the internal wall of the bole. Girth was recorded as 14′ 6” (442cm) at the root crown, 14′ 8” (447cm) at 2′ and over 15′ (457cm) at 3′. All branches have been clipped at the drip line, or, evidence of a browse line so no regeneration by layering and no evidence of seedlings or saplings close by. A further 2 young male yews (around 7′ girth) can be seen, one blown over some time ago.
