Date of visit: 27-Jun-09
Source of earliest mention: 2009: Barry Saich
Notes:2015 – Tim Hills: Tree 8 is seen in the first two photos. The large piece of old white sapwood can only hint at what the original tree might have looked like. A large section of stump remains and it has sprouted copiously. Girth was 8′ 4” at 1′.
Tree 1, seen in photos 3 and 4, consists of a new yew growing on the edge of the original trunk which was cut off at a height of about 3′ 6”. It has many low branches. Girth was 8′ 9” at about 1′, above its bulging roots.
With girths of under 4m the trees have previously been classified as notable. Because they display veteran characteristics they are now classified as V-con (veteran on account of their condition).
