Notes:In keeping with many of the North Down yews found on these embankments its canopy is quite sparse, with a large number of lower branches seemingly dead. Its root system remains beneath the earth. Height was about 50’/60′. At 5′ above the ground the bole separates into four main trunks with smaller limbs/branches projecting from these. As can be seen, one separate limb/trunk projects from the base of the bole. Girth including this limb at 1′ from the base was 17′ (518cm). Many of the lower, seemingly, dead branches on the south east side of the yew cascade down to the ground where layering is apparent. The centre of the bole is now bowl-like with signs of hollowing. There is much adventitious (epicormic) activity around the south, southeast area at the base of the bole.
