1998 – Owen Johnson: In The Sussex Tree book it is described as ‘branchy from base’ with a diameter of 188 cm at 0.1m. and a height of 11m. We have no date for this measurement.
July 2000 – Tim Hills: Low bushy growth. Considerable ivy. Much twiggy bulging at base of bole exaggerates girth, which I recorded as 17′ 0” (518cm) at the ground.
February 2012 – Peter Norton: Male tree with a 4′ 6” bole and 3 leaders. Much ivy in the crown and large amount of low twiggy growth. Tape very carefully threaded behind the low growth and at 2′ a girth of 17′ 0” (518cm) was recorded.
