Notes:

2000 – Tim Hills: Large quantities of fresh soil were piled against the tree. Both ivy and elder were well established close to the bole. A small hole at 5′ and a gap at the ground are the only hints of hollow spaces within the tree, which otherwise appears solid. Girths of 20′ 3” (617cm) at 1′ and 22′ 7″ (688cm) at 3′ (just beneath the bulges).
Sept 2014 – Peter Norton: The initial appearance was of a well cared for yew, with bark chippings surrounding the bole all the way out to the drip line. Unfortunately old ways appear to have returned, with grass piled against the north side of the tree, hidden from the casual observers gaze. Some bare branches high in the canopy were noted, otherwise the foliage was healthy. A small basal cavity can be seen on the west side of the tree. A natural waist line and the current ground height was used to obtain the girth of 20′ 10” (635cm) .
There are in addition two young yews either side of the south east gate, while the path leads you round to the west facing porch, where a large female yew grows just to the north.
2016 – Tim Hills: Remeasuring at the height of 1′ was made difficult by long twigs on one side of the tree. A girth of 21′ 2” (645cm) was recorded.
