Notes:As well as the yews that line the ridge, there are taller specimens among the pines. Where the pines have been felled the yews have been left growing. The largest girthed yew (girth of 11′ 10”) is shown in the 3rd photo and marks a natural spring which emerges from beneath the tree. We were told that this once used to supply water to the village of Fownhope. The yew almost certainly marked the spring.
