Notes:

Rev. R.Holden was the Rector of Nuthall from 1879 to 1914. His book, An Ancient Yew Tree’s Story is a history of the Parish. The tree is hollow and indications are that it will develop into the horse shoe shape. Fourteen inches of its circumference consisted of dead sapwood and it is possible to see crumbling heartwood in one of the cavities.
With a girth of under 4m the tree is presently classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it will in the future be classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
