Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 450cm

Girth height: at 150cm

Tree sex: Female

Date of visit: No data

Source of earliest mention: 2008: Pers. corres. Peter Young

Notes:

This fine solid yew produces many branches above 2m. Girth at the ground is slightly less than that recorded at 5′. The tree grows in an open aspect just within the property boundary and overlooking a 50 acre field. Twiggy growth has been trimmed back from the lower trunk to discourage the deer, who like its tender foliage as well as its rich crop of berries (arils) in the autumn. After feeding on the berries they have been observed to be more tame, as if intoxicated.
