Arthur O. Chater – the yew grows in a hedge between the ruin of Pantybeudy, and the field to the south which is named Caer Ywen on the 1791 plans of the Llanfair Clydogau and Llenddewi-Brefi estates.
September 2005 – Tim Hills: On one side of the bole soil, erosion around the roots is to be seen. Inside can be felt hollow spaces and internal growth. A substantial broken off branch has been left lying on the ground. Many slithers of new growth cover large areas of the original trunk. A fallen branch lies on the ground.
