November 2016 Paul Wood: The first two photographs show what appears to be a young yew. Closer examination suggests that this is a fragment of the original tree, possibly part of its internal growth. What remained in 2015 measured about 16′ in girth, but further discussion revealed that it had been even larger in the past. Janet Graham informed me that the tree was badly damaged during bad weather in the early 1980s. I was also told that the huge stump of a second yew was removed from this churchyard between 1918 and 1939.
