A younger yew with a planting date of 1727 also grows in the churchyard. Russell Cleaver visited in September 2005 and reported the following: ‘West of the church porch, and behind livestock fencing is a fine young male, now neglected. It has a clear, straight, stem to 1.5m; then branches out in all directions, arching over the surrounding tombstones and enclosing them as they bow to the ground. The girth is almost exactly 9′ 0” (2.73m) at 1.20m. If this was planted in 1720 it must have thrived, but now is beginning to get lost in undergrowth’.
