Rake

Tree ID: 6740

Yews recorded: Ancient 4m-5m

Tree girth: 427cm

Girth height: at 120

Tree sex: unspecified

Date of visit: 8/4/1988

Source of earliest mention: Mr Muldoon

Notes:

Muldoon described “a big yew tree right next to the house. About 10 yards from it and bordering the footpath is the remains of some sort of small (12ft by 10ft) building, it’s covered in a lot of undergrowth and brambles etc. It was made of old bricks though I found an old solid stone trough in the ruins. I’ve measured the girth of the yew tree; at 3ft above the ground level it has a girth of 13ft 1in (399cm) and at 4ft above ground level it has a girth of 14ft (427cm).” A note on the letter estimated the tree’s age to be 420 years and it is presumed that a certificate was sent to the owner.
