Notes:The yew is hollow on the church path side. It was measured above its spreading roots at a height of about 3′. The ground inside its hollow consists unusually of old sapwood. The wood inside the tree was blackened by smoke or fire. The bole is clear of growth up to a height of about 5′, where there is much twiggy growth. The hollow closes over at about a height of 10′.
