Notes:

March 2008 – Tim Hills: The largest girthed yew here is a three stemmed tree SSW of the church. There used to be eight yews growing here. Now there are only six, with two stumps all that remain of felled yews that used to grow east of the church. One of these is sprouting new growth at its base.
In 1875 The Penny Post wrote that: ‘there were, until lately, two very ancient yew-trees on the south side of the parish church, Sedbergh; one was blown down a few years ago, but the other is still living, supported by props’.
2012 – Vanessa Champion (ATH): The largest of six surviving yews SSW of the church, with a girth of 531cm at 1m. Its grid ref. was given as SD6571392047.
2012 – John Mounsey (ATH): The yew SW of the church at SD6571092036 has a girth of 393cm.
