The Trees and Woods of Exmoor by Roger Miles pub.1972 contains the following information: ‘The Rev. F. Hancock records that the yew on the western side was planted on 29th March,1860, which was Sir Thomas’ 73rd birthday’.
November 2016 – Tim Hills: It grows on sloping ground at the west end on the south side. This tree is a jumble of many stems, with a girth of 17′ 7” (536cm).
