Snead

Tree ID: 2642

Yews recorded: V - con

Tree girth: 325cm

Girth height: at the ground

Tree sex: female

Date of visit: 5-Oct-07

Source of earliest mention: 2007: Tim Hills

Notes:

October 2007 – Tim Hills: A female yew growing at the east end has a girth of about 11′.
2016 – Paul Wood: The female yew growing at the east end of the church is a most unusual shape, presenting an intriguing mixture of living and dead wood. Its present girth at ground level might only be 10′ 8” (3.25m), but the photos suggest that we are looking at the remains of a once larger girthed tree. Sparse foliage was a mixture of yellow, light green and dark green. Dead branches could be seen in all parts of the tree, which was covered in a considerable amount of lichen.
With a girth of under 4m the tree has previously been classified as notable. Because it displays veteran characteristics it is now classified as V-con (veteran on account of its condition).
