Stackpole

Tree ID: 2516

Yews recorded: Notable

Tree girth: 376cm

Girth height: at 5cm

Tree sex: male

Date of visit: 10-May-07

Source of earliest mention: 2004: Bian Edwards

Notes:

Though not of great girth, this is a very fine triple stemmed yew, exhibiting unusual features. One is that a branch has been allowed to reach the ground where it has become embedded and provides anchorage for the tree (photos 3 and 4). This branch layering has also led to the growth of new yews at the churchyard perimeter. Also of note is the considerable fusion of branches (photos 5 and 6). A low wall has been built around the tree.
