Notes:

An inhabitant of Standish remembers, as a child in the 1950s, her father talking of a ‘protected yew in Rectory Wood believed to be 1000 years old’. While the search for this tree has been unsuccessful, it has uncovered these two fine healthy looking yews growing in the old rectory gardens. Both have solid trunks and good crowns. The larger yew, with a girth of 15′ 3” (465cm) at 100cm is shown in the first photo; the smaller, also female, with a girth of 12′ 2” (371cm) at 3′, is shown in photo 2.
