In The Wiltshire Arch.and Nat. Hist. magazine vol XII 1853, is an article entitled The History of the Parish of Stockton, Wiltshire. On p193 is the following: “There is now only one tree remaining in the churchyard, an ancient yew tree, which was injured, it was supposed by lightning, on the south side several years ago.”
